Working closely with the founding partners, you will lead business development, client relationships and strategic partnerships for the firm, and be a visible presence for Climate Finance Advisors in the market and in the community.

    The opportunity

Climate Finance Advisors is looking for a senior, well-networked leader to help build Canada’s first pure-play sustainable investment consulting practice. This is a rare opportunity to shape a practice from the ground up alongside the founding partners — growing client relationships, forging mission-aligned partnerships, and representing the firm across the institutional investment community.

We are open to many forms of collaboration. The role can be full-time or part-time, and we welcome conversations about the arrangement that best fits the right person (see Flexible engagement below). The title can be shaped around your strengths.

    What you’ll do

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Business development. Identify, cultivate and convert opportunities with institutional and philanthropic asset owners, including foundations, endowments, pension plans, family offices, faith-based organizations and Indigenous asset owners.
    • Searches, RFPs & finals. Track consultant searches and RFP/RFI opportunities, lead proposal development, and participate in finalist presentations to boards and investment committees.
    • Client & stakeholder relationships. Act as a senior relationship lead for clients, trustees and investment committee members, deepening trust over time, understanding evolving needs, and coordinating closely with the client delivery team to ensure an exceptional client experience.
    • Mission-aligned partnerships. Develop strategic partnerships with organizations that share our values, such as industry associations, philanthropic networks, academic institutions, community organizations and complementary advisory firms, while protecting the firm’s independence.
    • Market and community presence. Be a visible, engaged presence for the firm at industry conferences, networking events and community gatherings, building relationships and the firm’s reputation as a trusted partner in sustainable investing.
    • Practice building & operations. Bring proven investment consulting processes and operational know-how, from client onboarding and service models to reporting, governance and workflow, to help the firm scale and grow efficiently.
    • Pipeline & market intelligence. Maintain a disciplined pipeline and CRM, monitor market trends and asset owner needs, and share insights that inform the firm’s positioning.

    What you’ll bring

    • Significant experience in business development, client relationship management or institutional sales within investment consulting, asset management, wealth management, pension or foundation investing, or a related field
    • An established network among Canadian asset owners, investment committees and/or the broader institutional investment community
    • An active presence in the market and in the community, and comfort representing an organization at events and in senior-level conversations
    • A track record of opening doors, building long-term relationships and converting opportunities into lasting client mandates or partnerships
    • Strong understanding of institutional investing (governance, investment policy, asset allocation, manager selection), with an interest in sustainable, responsible and impact investing
    • Experience with investment consulting processes and operations, such as client service models, reporting, manager research workflows or practice management, that can help a growing firm scale
    • Values alignment with our mission and a commitment to independence and integrity: our neutrality as an advisor is a core principle
    • An entrepreneurial, self-directed approach and enthusiasm for building something new in a collaborative, flat structure

    Assets

    • Professional credentials such as CFA, CAIA, CIM or FSA are an asset
    • Sustainability training (e.g., CFA ESG or Climate certificates) or experience in sustainable investing is an asset but not mandatory; a genuine interest in the practice is what matters most
    • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English and French, an asset

    Flexible engagement

We want to hear from strong candidates regardless of their preferred arrangement. Depending on the person and circumstances, structures we are open to discussing include:

    • Full-time or part-time engagement
    • Commission-based arrangements
    • Part-time base salary plus commission
    • Base salary, commission and equity participation

    What we offer

    • The opportunity to help build a pioneering practice and shape the future of sustainable investment consulting in Canada
    • A seat alongside the founding partners and meaningful influence over how the firm grows
    • A hybrid work environment in downtown Montréal that allows you to work in-office and remotely in the combination that makes you most balanced, stimulated, happy and productive
    • A work-life balance that supports continuing education, community service and personal interests
    • Meaningful, inspiring work across a breadth of client types, in an environment where everyone is valued for their unique skills, traits and abilities
